Wind Down and Wake Up

A good night's sleep works wonders for anyone stressed or worried. The Sleep Council has developed these Wind Down and Wake Up routines, designed especially to prepare the body for sleep at night; and to get it going in the morning for the day ahead.

RELAX

Sleep tips

Getting plenty of fresh air and exercise and following a healthy diet all contribute to improving sleep quality, but it's just as important to learn how to wind down and relax in order to prepare the body for sleep. If you haven't already got your own favoured techniques for doing this, then hopefully these will plug the gap.

EXERCISE

Can't sleep?

Come morning, some gentle mobility movements in bed before we get going can really help get muscles and joints working again without damage. (You never see an animal just wake up and move off, do you? They always indulge in a good stretch!) The routine is also a great way to give your mind the chance to adjust to getting out of bed and getting on with the day.
